Captain Ivan R. Hershner, JR. 

Capt Ivan R. Hershner, JR, Parachute Infantry, while serving with the army of the United States, distinguished himself by heroic achievement in action, when the enemy launched a vigorous armored attack on the position defended by his regiment. Captain Hershner assisted in organizing a line of defense with two tank destroyers supporting the line troops. Observing a wounded man attempting to escape from his burning tank destroyer, he ran to his aid, disregarding the imminent danger of enemy fire and an explosion of the tank destroyer's ammunition, and carried the soldier to safety. Through his outstanding leadership, high devotion to duty and heroic conduct, Capt. Hershner saved the life of the wounded man and contributed materially to his unit's successful defense against the enemy attack. His actions were in accordance with the highest standards of the military service. Entered military service from Nebraska.

Pvt. First Class Schuyler W. Jackson

Pvt First Class Schuyler W. Jackson, 20380281, Parachute Infantry, United States Army, for meritorious service in action. His loyalty and complete disregard for his personal safety in helping to protect his injured commander against enemy forces and repulse an enemy attack during which he captured, killed or wounded the entire enemy force of 28 men were in accordance with the highest standards of the military service.
