PVT Richard M. Ladd Reg. HQ/502 PIR S-2 Section
Ladd assembled with a group of men led by Col. Cole on D-day morning . They encountered a column of Germans moving south and engaged them . After this encounter Ladd discovered the body of Maj. JW Vaughn the S-4 lying on the east shoulder of the road. Details surrounding his death are sketchy.
