M5 Gas Mask & M7 Assault Bag.

This gas mask and bag was designed specifically for amphibious assault. It was constructed of a black rubberized material and had a screw on filter. The mask was then enclosed in a black rubber bag that when closed by the snaps lined across the top formed a water tight seal that allowed the bag to float in the water. Most Paratroopers wore the mask & bag into combat strapped to their upper leg. This mask was not issued and is a nice example that is dated July 1944.
